about

"Mysticism of Soft Dreams" (“Мистика мягких снов») is the fourth release in the official discography of the Yekaterinburg band Arctic Lightz. It includes nine songs in Russian. The music is difficult to be attributed to any particular genre. You will hear blues, jazz and trip-rock on the album. Though the release was recorded in the course two weeks, the band had been preparing material for it for four years. In the meantime, Arctic Lightz conducted rehearsals and gave concerts, performing live some of the material for the new album.
Arctic Lightz have participated in various festivals, including Ural Music Night, Indyushata (award winners in the Best Vocal nomination), Old New Rock and The New Music of Yekaterinburg. Their music was live broadcast on the Govorit Moskva, Ralph Radio, Mayak and Nashe Radio stations.
“We had no genre benchmarks. As for the music, almost all the songs on our album are a result of jams. We usually write lyrics for the ready-made tunes. There was an interesting story with ‘Search for Me Target’ [Ищи меня мишень] that was created back in 2015. When we were recording it, we decided that the arrangement that we had did not suit us. So Alexey took a guitar and started playing something right inside the studio. Flora and Vadim began jamming. I drafted a simple beat in Ableton and Oleg boosted it. Originally, there was no chorus in the song so I came up with some lines for the emerging melody. And that’s how we put the puzzle together,” Maksim Murzin says.
“I would like everyone to figure out on his own what our album is about for him. We were unable to record it earlier due to some reasons but I’m happy that we finally did,” Murzin adds.
"This album is dear to me because it is the most mature and created through the most suffering among all the previous ones. We have changed vocalists, drummers and keyboard players several times. Everything worked out eventually and we finally recorded these songs. We could probably make further improvements and changes. But I personally like the way it turned out — melodic and atmospheric in terms of performance; warm and cozy in sound," Vadim Chikurov says.
The band released its first mini-album “Exhale Me On Fields of Pages Silence and Open Noise” (“Вдыхай меня На полях страниц Тишина и Открытый шум”) in 2014. The next album “Old Wounds” (“Старые раны”) was released by Label Cuntroll in 2015, while in 2018, Arctic Lightz dropped the single “Forget” (“Забыть.”)
